Yin Yoga Yang Yoga, a Taoist approach
Yin Yoga is the relaxed practice of floor postures for three to five minutes at a time. It is the ideal complement to more muscular or “Yang” forms of Yoga. A Yin practice emphasizes the connective tissues of the hips, thighs, pelvis and lower spine. In this way it prepares the body and the mind for longer meditation practices. By drawing the student’s awareness away from the muscles and deeper into the bones a deep level of relaxed focus is achieved.
Yang Yoga is the rhythmic, flowing repetition of movements that require strength and balance. A Yang practice emphasizes the muscle tissues and circulatory system. Yang Yoga leaves one feeling invigorated and alert.
This workshop will explore the yoga practices presented on Paul's DVD "Yin Yoga".
Chakra Theory and Meditation
Chi is the energy that animates the body, Meridians are the channels in which Chi flows, and Chakras are spiritual centers in the brain and spine that control the flow of Chi. The fundamental premise of Hatha Yoga, Tantra Yoga and Taoism is that these energies need to be brought under the Yogi’s control if the mind is to be calmed and the Self revealed. This class wil explore some practices outlined in Paul's DVD "Chakra Theory and Meditation"
